About us

Formerly the Hammond Lane site, the centre was established in 1989. It is currently funded by Solas (FÁS) and Pobal and employs over 30 staff through Job Initiative and Community Employment schemes. Since then it has facilitated many organisations and associations such as Youth Clubs, TD Clinics, Creche Facilities and Computer Training. The centre has become the focal point of the Community, and has opened its doors to people of all cultures. We facilitate various ethnic groups requiring the centre for meetings, prayers and festivals. The centre is open to all. We have recently taken on board the task of reaching out to other marginalised groups and listening to what their needs are. We are working on continued development of services for the Community. We will then, with the support of statutory agencies put in place the support mechanism for them to ensure that they feel part of the Community.

We have a wide range of local activities including; Karate, Drama, Irish Dancing, Kids Disco and Rooms for parties, meetings, groups and festivals. The sense of community in both Ringsend and Irishtown is unfathomable, and being one of the oldest neighbourhoods inDublin, is home to families spanning several generations.

Currently the centre comprises of two large meeting rooms, five portacabins, computer room, cyber café and large garden to rear equipped withbowling green. Our plans for the redevelopment of the centre will include an extension of the existing building and the use of shipping containers that will be transformed into rooms for a better working environment. The bold new design by Studio Red Architects will make the centre the first of it’s kind inIreland. A development group are currently working on obtaining funding to which we are half way in securing. This exciting transformation will enable us to better facilitate growing needs in the community for services and create a central hub of activity in the area.
